Welcome to Bayou Kayaks

We’re a little outfitter with a big outfitter attitude. We’ll get you in the water and paddling on Bayou St John so you can enjoy a little piece of the Sportsman’s Paradise right here in the Big Easy. Paddle from our launch site up the bayou to Orleans Ave and down to Robert E Lee Blvd, and experience the city from a new perspective.

The Bayou is home to a wide range of flora and fauna. Maybe you’ll spot a pelican swooping down for a fish, or spy the egrets, herons, ducks, loons and more. The route sweeps through residential areas with an array of architectural styles from French Colonial to lavish modern manses. Or enjoy the sights and sounds of cultural events from the serenity of the bayou.

Total route distance is about 8 easy miles round trip, perfect for beginners and experts. Join us for a fun, wallet-friendly way to get your paddle on that won’t break the bank! Don’t have to do whole trip, so paddle at your own pace.

Rhonda Ardoin Owner and Chief Paddling Officer. She’s a Louisiana Native with Native American and Cajun French Roots, originally from Acadiana. Rhonda has paddled, fished and swum many of this state’s waterways and feels most at home on or in the water. Since moving to New Orleans, she’s spent every free minute paddling with her dog Charlie, family and friends. Rhonda started this business because she wants to share that feeling and the paddler lifestyle with you.

Chris Brooks is a native of Slidell and avid kayaker.  He has experience in various water environments including coastal and white water. Currently, Chris is our local guide leading trips and groups.  He’s also our location scout, and joyfully paddles around the state equipped with a video camera and a smile to map out excursions designed to satisfy the needs of our growing kayak community.

Cuz we’re a little oufitter with a big heart, we offer a level of customer service and expertise only native-born paddlers can provide. We welcome first timers and seasoned paddlers alike and promise you’ll enjoy every second from the moment your paddle hits the water.
